ABOUT US

OUR MISSION: To eradicate cancer in all its forms by increasing cancer awareness and advance cancer research through education and events.

Where we started

The Original CFOH Board

In the spring of 1980, nine female Houstonians with varied life histories gathered together to consider the formation of a new organization, which eventually became Cancer Fighters of Houston, Inc.

Each founding member had some family member or close friend impacted by a diagnosis of cancer. At that time, one of the founding members was engaged in her own personal journey with breast cancer.

These experiences collectively inspired and encouraged these women to do something to help fight against the suffering cancer brings.

Each founding member contributed $100 to start this project and the organization grew from their efforts and their vision.

Cancer Fighters of Houston was formed with the evolving vision of fundraising to assist the fight against cancer through research, education, and clinical service.

Letter From The President

Dear Cancer Fighter supporters,

We ended 2021 with a very successful holiday gathering at the Houstonian. The last two years have been very challenging because of COVID and economic conditions. As we go through 2022 Cancer Fighters of Houston remains steadfast in our mission to support the research for the fight against cancer!

We are a 501(c)(3) organization with all volunteers. All of the proceeds from fundraising remains for cancer research in the Houston area. At our holiday gathering we were proud to present Dr. Michael Davies with a check for $25,000, and to The Rose a check for $10,000. This year  Cancer Fighters of Houston has launched a $10,000 scholarship to be given annually for students who are studying towards certification in the HCC Houston community college endoscopic training program. This is a new nationwide program, and we are one of the first to give such a scholarship.

Cancer touches all of our lives we ask for your support. Please let us know how you like our new look on the website! I am very proud to be able to be involved with this organization.

Warm regards,

Suzie Wilkes, President CFOH
